My random non book related rant of the day yesterday on Instagram was all about my wanting to read more. Faster that is, so I can squeeze a book or two more into my monthly reads. I average 6-8 books, but being a blogger and bookstagrammer there’s always the need for more! While chatting with @writerrhiannon she mentioned audiobooks to get a couple extra in a month. I’ll be honest, there’s nothing better than a book in my hands, nothing can replace that. I don’t even own a e-reader. The idea of randomly listening while commuting to and from work, doesn’t entice me. It’s not like I’ve never utilized audio format. I “read” (listened) to Night by Elie Wiesel. That is one book I highly recommend listening to. Hearing it, the spoken word, leaves you with an entirely different experience. Haunting.

I’m an avid YouTube viewer. Books and beauty. Yesterday I watched a video from one of my favorite booktubers, the topic- Books I hate that everyone loves. As always, she was articulate and very well prepared with her rebuttal. While talking about one very popular series that she didn’t like, her reasoning was how a particular group was depicted. She argued that even though the book is written about an individual(s) and their experience, she thought the person should have been written in a different manner to better represent the group as a whole. She went on to describe norms that should be challenged (agree) as well as challenging authors to think of the readers, instead of just the one individual character. Here’s where we disagree… Continue reading Be a voice, not an echo
